About the Characters...
Please read on below for answers to some questions about the characters' names - pronunciation, derivation, etc... (Or better yet, pick up the audiobook when it comes out, and hear the amazing Eddie Frierson pronounce them for you!)
Penn - Originally, Penn was going to be based on the historical figure William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania. Though a pre-revolutionary, William Penn's writings are credited as inspiring parts of the U. S. Constitution. As the book developed, Penn became less similar to his namesake. Incidentally, Penn is a company that makes fishing reels and other angling equipment.
Cesswi - (Cess-wee, like the 'cess' in Success) - Taken as a person's name from an acronym, CESSWI, which is an environmental certification copyrighted by EnviroCert International: Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Storm Water Inspector. You'll hopefully see why this fits Cess as you get into the story. The second book in the series further delves into the derivation of her name, though you'll have to wait for the book to find out more.
Perca - (Perk-uh) - Scientific name (genus - Perca) of the Perch, a common freshwater fish, though Perca, herself, is not completely common.
Goby - (Go-bee) - Scientific name (family - Gobiidae) of the largest family of fish, usually small bait fish. Hence her small stature.
Trokar - (Tro-car) - The brand name of fishing hooks, TroKar. Who better to reel in the fugitives?
Rayburn - Not just Ray, the "burn" is for the added irritation (fiery temper, foul mood) he sometimes brings to the group.
Vogl (Vogel), Jordyce (Jor-diss), Gord, Sharvis, etc... - Most of these names have no particular significance.
